“An Introduction to the Theater of Jacques Lecoq” Seminar
Based on the teachings of the late Jacques Lecoq, this workshop will offer starting points from which the performer-creator might begin to observe and interpret our living world and its movement for the stage. The participants will approach methods of organizing living situations, physical characterization, improvisation, and collaborative creation. Suitable for actors, dancers, directors, writers and all other curious creators.
San Francisco Circus Center, 3/08
“Creating Physical Characters”
Based on the movement work of the late Jacques Lecoq, this workshop will explore the creation of physical characters, their bodies, movement, and dramatic motivation. Participants will experiment with the dynamics of the four natural elements (water, fire, earth, air), with the movement of animals, and with the transformative qualities of man-made materials, pathways into the invisible drama of life. Each participant will create a unique physical character and discover the life of this character in situations.
TBA
“The Clown and the Poetic Body”
Using the movement work of the late Jacques Lecoq, this workshop seeks to open a range of physical expressive possibilities in the performer in order to explore the poetic emotional life of the clown. This exploration will be applied to the creation of the personal red-nosed clown, as well as characters from the universes of Beckett, Shakespeare, and Fellini.
