Kyoko Jasper

In order to support my friend Paige Elenson’s effort in Kenya Africa, I hosted two fundraising events in Japan in the beginning of 2008. I had an amazing mix of people who came to play with me in Kyoto. People of all walks of life, ages 5 to 77!!

It was very unusual for the Japanese to intermingle with strangers. At first everyone was shy, but by the end of the event everyone was laughing and sharing the space so happily. The woman I was flying in this picture was 77 years old. She was amazingly fit and receptive. As I look back, I realize now that if it wasn’t for the charitable concept, I wouldn’t have been able to gather such an amazing group of people. I wouldn’t even have met them. By being a yoga teacher you could be limiting yourself by only meeting people that practice yoga. But now I realize the importance of uniting all people in this beautiful and amazingly fun practice. I would like to keep facilitating these kind of event...and I am forever grateful to Kevin & Erin for showing me how to do it.
