A long, long time ago in a town a lot like the one where you live, a little girl watched Olga Korbut in the Olympics and dreamed of being a gymnast. But she was told she was too big, and she couldn’t do a cartwheel or a handstand. She also had dreams of being a singer and a dancer.
But she put all of those dreams away. She thought she had to be realistic, get good grades, grow up, get a job, and find someone to marry.
Well, she did grow up and got realistic, but in her own way: she got good grades, a good job, a husband, a child… and a divorce.
She realized she hadn’t received the best advice. She had actually known what to do all along.
So, she changed her mind and her life. She sang and danced and played more. Then she found CircusYoga. At first she told herself it was to build a better connection with her son. But the pixie inside of her knew that it was an opportunity for her to play and grow and connect in a way that didn’t need words or thinking or “figuring out.”
In CircusYoga she learned to fly and be flown. She learned how to juggle, use a diablo, and toss a devil stick. Group pyramids became living sculptures. Partner yoga became an opportunity to communicate without words with anyone and everyone in the group. She danced and play acted. She sang silly songs and songs of encouragement.
And guess what? This playing and dancing and singing is helping her in her relationship with her son. It is also helping her to play and enjoy her job and many other “realistic” things that she encounters every day. CircusYoga is helping her receive and give love and support in a completely new way.
“Isn’t this great” she realizes, “I didn’t lose my opportunity and I don’t ever have to become a grown up.”
“Hmmm, I wonder what will be next?”
