My love of circus is thanks in part to my sister who gave me my first set of homemade juggling balls almost 13 years ago.  Never did I think that gift would give me, and those around me so much fun, inspiration, and JOY.  Years later, I found myself living on the Big Island of Hawai’i where I worked for a youth circus.  It’s there that I was so inspired by young children stilt walking, juggling, doing acrobatics, and swinging quite literally from avocado trees.  What I knew from that point forward, is that I wanted to be apart of that community.  Since 2004, I have worked for CircEsteem, and now I am the Executive Director of this non-profit youth circus whose mission is to unite youth from diverse backgrounds and build self-esteem and confidence through the practice of circus arts.  Much of the work I do is one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, teaching circus, and providing a space where everyone is welcome.  My students in this social circus program have taught me amazing life lessons and continue to inspire me daily.

I have incorporated CircusYoga into the culture of our circus family.  Together we take risks, we challenge ourselves and we support one another. I meet my students where they are and help instill a belief in ones own abilities—that we are infinite beings and are capable of much more than we ever realized.
