I grew up on the South Shore of Montréal in the 60s and 70s, in a very suburban setting. The kitchen's carpet was a mix of green and brown short haired unnatural material that burned the knees if you went on all fours too fast. It has created in me a life long distrust of nylon and polyester. It had also forced me to seek escape in books and stories. As a child and teenager, I used to write a lot. Some of my stories I also illustrated and bound in little books. I was shy in the real world, but always the first to raise my hand to read stories, do skits and plays. I loved being on a stage, the small one beside the teacher's desk, or the big one in the auditorium, with the lights and all... But I was good in science too and was led to believe that science was the future because it led to real good jobs. So I became a software engineer, was fairly good at it for over 11 years, and thought that feeling like a fish out of water was just a natural way of being. Then I had a baby, and another, and found yoga...

And I've been slowly reconnecting with the child in me who loved stories and being on stage. I have filled my time being a mom teaching yoga part time to kids and adults. I thrive on helping kids see their own magnificence. I thank my wonderful daughters for showing me how learning can be done in so many ways, and that hidden treasures are everywhere...!

The pictures below are from a Circus Yoga workshop I gave at my church (First Unitarian of Ottawa) where over 40 kids, teens and a few adults shared in a great fire circle, did some group juggling, partner juggling, some flying and had a lot of fun!
